(Full Netted Layer Skirt by Alex Chung; $63.78

Full skirts are back in full force, and the more swing they have, the better. A nice a-line skirt makes a great alternative to a pencil skirt for work, and a cute and comfortable look during your leisure time. Here are a few of our choices for getting the perfect full skirted look.

Mix it up a little bit with the short Chintz Linen Tie-Belt Skirt by BeBe ($98). This mini skirt, with it’s cute bow in the front and wide pleats, is the perfect way to sport an a-line skirt for a party or on the nightlife scene. Looks great with a bright colored ballet top and matching colored tights.

The Express Pleated Full Skirt ($59.50) exemplifies this trend to the fullest! This skirt has tons of flair and movement, which is key. It will also give any outfit an unexpected touch with the black and gray color blocking. Wear it with a body hugging turtle neck tank, tucked in and silver hoop earrings for a feminine look with a modern touch.

Go super short with the Fendi Poplin A-Line Skirt ($375). This skirt takes a bit of sass and a whole lot of confidence to pull off. Pair this piece up with a crisp woven wrap blouse, and don’t be afraid to have a little fun and go for a bright color or a pattern. Top things off with a pair of super high strappy wedge heels.

Full skirts definitely effect dresses as well. It’s all about the fitted bodice and high waist, like the Cotton Cady Lydia Dress ($250) and the Camilla Dress ($255), both from J Crew. Both are cute, fun, and girlishly sexy. All it takes is the perfect pair of high heeled sandals to complete the look with either dress, and they will both accessorize well with other bright colors.

So don’t be afraid to add a little volume to your wardrobe! Chances are once you get one these skirts on you’ll love the way they make you feel. And don’t forget to twirl.
