After years of adding countless pairs of dark jeans to a wardrobe, the denim industry is finally flipping things around. Light wash denim is definitely making a comeback. We’ll show you exactly how this look is being worn and how you can make it flattering to your figure.

Go Medium

The idea of wearing light colored jeans can be quite daunting at first, since dark denim has always been considered more slimming. If you’re still resistant to diving head first into a sea of light wash denim, go for a medium wash like the J Brand Lovestory Low Rise Bell Bottoms ($187). Same trend, just not as extreme and more flattering for many figures.

Go With the Flow

Let your inner flower child show! Part of the reason why light denim is style is because of a 70’s revival, so put them on with a flowy, bouncy patterned top like the Seaton Amelie Blouse ($198) or the Embriodered Short Sleeve Kimono Top from Bebe ($68). And bright colors are a must!

Layer the Look

Layering with pieces of clothing that sit close to your body make your figure look longer and more sleek, and that comes in handy when wearing light denim. A long top that covers the hips is always a safe bet, and something such as a cropped sweater or a vest adds another element to your outfit and breaks up the body. We think the Baily 44 Cascade Top ($101) in White will look amazing with the Asos Lined Waist Coat ($25). Put it all together with a pair of light skinny jeans with an inseam long enough to wear a pair of colored pumps with.
