When a model strutted down the runway at Nanette Lepore’s F/W 2008 show, we were quite impressed with this put together look with an unexpected use of fabrics and prints. It’s not all that hard, or that expensive, to get this designer look. Read on we’ll show you how, step by step!
We loved the ingenious way Nanette Lepore layered her tube dress with a sheer blouse underneath; hers was probably built in, but we’re going to have to mix two pieces to get the look. Try the Daisy Print Short Sleeve Blouse by Asos ($54.18) as the first piece in our version of this look. The black and white print is just the right compliment for the dress and it’s small enough that it won’t clash with our choice.
Of course, we need a great gray tube dress to kick off this dress. We opted for the Etched Linen Strapless Corset Dress ($129); it may not be plaid, but the etching will give it a similar effect. And even without all the accessories, this tube dress is a great piece with stitched detailing under the bust and above the hem.
We swapped out the long leather gloves for the more versatile and shorter Portolano Black Leather Contrast Stitch Gloves ($63.99). These will give you the same chic look, but with a piece you can wear over and over again with a variety of different outfits.
Recently, we’ve been pairing so many outfits with black semi sheer stockings, but a pair of black tights will really pull this look together. The Opaque Tights from Banana Republic ($12.50) is all you’ll need!
We’re not 100% certain from the photos what type of shoes were worn with the original outfit, but they look to be peep toe heels with a bit of texture. Luckily, we found the Abaete for Payless Harlow Pump ($24.99), black slingback with perferated faux leather and comfortable mid height heel. After all, you have to look good from head to toe, and these shoes definitely cover the latter!
