On Sunday it was all about red on the red carpet, as some of the worlds most famous women showed off their designer gowns a the Oscars. Keep reading to see what we thought were the hits and the misses on Hollywood’s biggest night.

Katherine Heigl, Miley Cyrus and Heidi Klum were a few of the women in red. Heidi was particularly impressive in her dramatic Galliano dress, and Miley kept it simple with an age appropriate Valentino number.

The Good

Cameron Diaz was simple and stunning in a pale pink Dior dress. No bling or bright colors were necessary here; the overall look was lean and fresh with up swept hair, in typical Cameron style. The sophisticated draping and pleating on this dress speaks for itself.

Jennifer Garner played it safe with a black flute shaped tube dress, but she was smart to pick one with a lot of intricate detailing. This gown in particular looked fabulous on camera and it was accessorized perfectly with diamonds tightly around the neck and several cuff bracelets.

There was one lady in read who outshone them all. We’re giving the award for best dressed to Anne Hathaway, who blew us away when she stepped on to the red carpet in this Marchesa look! The train, the Grecian draping, and the flowers across the bust; all perfection.

The Bad

So, not every woman looked so stunning. Take last years Supporting Actress winner Jennifer Hudson. The white part of this dress is simple and angelic, but it’s the glittery snake print around her waist and at her neck that makes us go “huh?”. Something about it just doesn’t fit, and it doesn’t exactly scream out “classy” either.

We’re all prepared to forgive Jessica Alba for this fashion faux pas; she’s pregnant, making her choices limited, but it’s still worth pointing out. Just like Anne she was sporting Marchesa, and it was elegantly draped at the bottom, but the fur and feathers up top are looking a bit mucky.

And now for the worst, Penelope Cruz. She seems to have about three times as many feathers on her dress as Jessica Alba had, plus what looks to be tinsel, as well as draping across the middle that isn’t exactly flattering. This dress doesn’t lengthen her, instead it makes her look lower than to the grown. But come Halloween, just add a pointy hat and a broomstick and she’ll be good to go.
