This look from the Michael Kors 2008 resort collection is just right for dressing up in the summer. It’s very chic, and even a little bit mysterious, and we’re showing you exactly how you can pull it off.
The skirt is easily the focus piece of this outfit. With it’s black and white, large plaid pattern, the Talbots Abstract Plaid Skirt ($148) comes close to the original in look and shape. It might not be designer but it sure makes a bold statement!

The top might not stand out the way the skirt does, but it does need to match it perfectly. A halter, like the top worn on the Michael Kors runway, is a must. Throw on the Kenneth Cole Knotted Halter ($128); we love the little details, like the knots in the front on back, that give this silk top an individual touch.

A pair of big, Jackie O’ style glasses lend an extra element of sophistication to the outfit. We’re sure that’s why Michael Kors threw a pair in for his look, and we’re throwing in the similarly shaped Fendi Round Oversized Sunglasses ($150). It’s always great to have full coverage from the sun and look good at the same time!
Two more pieces and this outfit is complete! Carry anything you need in the Urban Expressions Black Patent Reptile Clutch ($68). The snake embossed print on this envelope shaped clutch will add a nice little touch of texture to look as a whole. And you can give your feet a rest from heels by opting for a pair of thongs. The Lambertson Truex Leather Thong ($147.99) match the ones worn by the model in the original look, especially because of their slim leather straps.
